The Catholic Pro-Life Committee is gearing up for our next BIG event, The Bishop’s 16th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner, on March 28, 2009. Hosted by our Bishop, the Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell, our dinner is the largest educational and fundraising event of any diocesan pro-life group in the nation, bringing together more than 2,000 pro-lifers of all ages to raise the needed support for our nine life-saving ministries during the year!

We are excited this year to have as our keynote speaker Gianna Jessen, a marathon runner, singer and courageous witness to life with an unforgettable story. The 2009 dinner will once again be held in the beautiful Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole, 220l Stemmons Freeway, Dallas.

If you want to be part of putting on this memorable dinner and work with a talented team of committed pro-lifers, we need volunteers for a variety of tasks prior to, and the night of, the dinner. Please consider how you can help us, and by doing so, help save lives:

Phone callers – Do you have a good phone voice and the ability to keep good records? Can you make calls from home, or would you be able to come to our office for a couple of hours a day, or once or twice a week, during the month of March?

Couriers – Can you drive fliers to parishes and other offices in February or March? Or run other errands?

Promotions – Can you give a 5-minute presentation about the dinner to groups in your parish? We will provide a script and materials.

Check-in the night of the dinner – Can you help greet lots of guests with a big smile, make them welcome and help them find their way around?

Raffle ticket sales – We need to sell lots of tickets at $20 each, four for $60 and eight for $100. Can you take tickets to sell in your neighborhood, workplace or church? We have packets at the CPLC office we can mail to you. We also need help with sales at the ticket booth the night of the dinner.

Silent Auction committee – We have several needs in this area:
 Do you like soliciting donated gifts of religious items and themed baskets? We especially need those with great communications skills and business contacts.
 Can you be available the day of or night of the dinner to help in setup, hospitality, carryout, boxing/packing items, and display teardown?
 We could use at least 20 mature volunteers to help during the auction, including providing assistance to bidders (we are using a computerized “touchpad” for placing bids, and there will be training), and checking out purchases at the end of the auction.
 We will need a van, hand-trucks and adults to transport items to the Anatole on the event day.
 We need help with the auction follow-up – transporting leftover items, organizing them and arranging for them to be picked up by the bid winners.

Also, please note that the ticket price for the dinner is $70, which pays for the meal, parking and other costs for the event. Regrettably we cannot offer all volunteers a full scholarship to attend. We reserve first-available partial and full scholarships for our clergy, religious and students. We are usually able to secure partial scholarships by volunteers who request assistance.
