December 31, 2009 Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator, A Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family! As we stand together at the beginning of a new year – and new decade – on behalf of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, I thank you for all that you have done for life the last year – and decade – and for all you continue to do for life. May the Lord bless you and grant you success in the coming year in your efforts to build a culture of life in your parish and in your work to end abortion and all crimes against the sanctity of life! As you know, we began a special, modified 40 Days for Life-Dallas Winter Vigil on December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, due to the opening of the Southwestern late-term abortion facility at 8616 Greenville Ave at Royal Ln in northeast Dallas. We are so grateful that 35 parishes/groups have already adopted vigil days, but we still have 12 days between now and January 22nd which have not yet been adopted. The hours of this modified prayer vigil are from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 7 days a week. If you can adopt even one or two hours on one of the available days, please do so! The schedule of adopted/available days is attached (see link at left). Thank you for your prayers and sacrifices offered against this place of such grave evil in our community! We’re just two weeks away from the annual Roe Memorial Events in downtown Dallas, to be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010! Please find attached (link at left) a letter of invitation to the events from Bishop Farrell, who would like to see the number of people – especially young people – praying and marching for life double from the 5,000 who marched last year! Please do all you can to circulate the Bishop’s letter and the event fliers (English & Spanish) in your parish, parish school, and parish organizations to help “Make it 10 in ‘10” – 10,000 people praying and marching for life with Bishop Farrell on January 16, 2010!! The day’s events begin with the Roe Memorial Rosary at the Routh Street abortion center from 7:45-8:45 a.m., followed by the Roe Memorial Mass concelebrated by Bishops Farrell and Vann at the Cathedral. After Mass, at 12 noon, will be the ecumenical Dallas March for Life to the federal courthouse where the Roe v. Wade case was first filed. Full details may be found at www.prolifedallas.org/roe, or call the CPLC office at 972-267-LIFE (5433). We are also in need of volunteers, especially to help with ushering! Please let us know if you can help. The next ParCoor meeting will be Saturday, February 13, at St. Mary of Carmel Catholic Church, 2900 Vilbig Rd, Dallas, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. If you are unable to attend, please send a representative. Thank you again for all you do for life, and I look forward to seeing you downtown on January 16th! God Bless,
Jim Walker |
