November 2, 2010 Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator, Greetings and blessings! Wow! What a day we had on Saturday, October 9! We held the Respect Life Month Quarterly Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and Rosary Procession, followed by the Midway Rally to mark the mid-point of the 40 Days for Life-Dallas prayer campaign; plus, it was the first-ever 40 Days for Life-Dallas Youth Day! Crowds in excess of 400 stood and prayed on all four corners of the intersection of Royal and Greenville where the Southwestern late-term abortion center stands. Bishop Doug Deshotel celebrated the Mass at St. Patrick, Father Josef Vollmer-König led the rosary procession to Southwestern, and Bishop Mark Seitz and Father Douglas Zavala spoke at the Midway Rally and then joined the vigil in prayer at the late-term abortion center. Praise God for our dear clergy and their commitment and witness to Life! As of the campaign's midpoint, over 2000 prayer volunteers had been out on the sidewalks, and through the end of the campaign on Sunday night at midnight, another 2000 had come out to pray. As a result of God’s grace working through our sidewalk counselors and this constant prayer presence, at least 15 babies were saved at Southwestern during the campaign! And countless more hearts have been converted by this witness for life. At the end of this month, on November 27, Pope Benedict XVI has made a special request to all dioceses worldwide that they join him in celebration of a “Vigil for All Nascent Human Life” coinciding with first vespers of the First Sunday of Advent. The purpose of this Vigil, according to USCCB Pro-Life Committee Chairman Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, “is to ‘thank the Lord for his total self-giving to the world and for his Incarnation which gave every human life its real worth and dignity,’ and to ‘invoke the Lord’s protection over every human being called into existence’.” Bishop Kevin Farrell has requested that all parishes in the Diocese of Dallas join with the Holy Father in this unprecedented event. Options provided by the USSCB to celebrate this vigil are:
