Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator,

Greetings and blessings!  It is hard to believe, but summer is now officially over and we’ve started another busy fall, with Respect Life Month now upon us!  As always, there are lots of pro-life activities on the calendar, not the least of which is our annual Baby Bank Campaign.  As you receive this letter, the Fall Campaign is in full swing, but there is still time to join. Baby Banks are a fun, proven way to raise funds for pro-life activities in your parish and in our diocese.  If you want to learn more, just contact me and we will get you started.

At this time of year we have many opportunities to become personally involved in bringing an end to abortion and promoting a culture of life in the Dallas Diocese.  Thanks to all parishes that have already adopted days in the 40 Days for Life-Dallas Prayer Vigil – 37 of the 40 Days.  As you know, Dallas is participating with 212 cities in 45 states in this campaign.  So far, there has been continuous prayer coverage at Robinson's – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – since the vigil started on September 23.  This is a very special time of prayer and fasting, and grace for the work of life, in this united, nationwide prayer effort.  Thank you again for all you can do to promote and participate in it.

Other opportunities this month include Life Chain on October 4th, the Strike for Life “Beach Bowl” family bowl-a-thon on October 10th, and our Respect Life Month Quarterly Mass & Rosary Procession on October 17th, which will also be the Midpoint Event of 40 Days-Dallas.  Flyers for all these events and more are included in this month’s mailer.

I hope you’ve had a chance to present the USCCB’s Respect Life Month Program Packet to your pastor.  If not, it’s not too late!  Bishop Farrell has asked that a Respect Life homily be given on Respect Life Sunday (October 4^th) in our parishes, but if that’s not possible, it may be given on another Sunday in October.  Please be sure to hang the Respect Life Program poster in a prominent place in your parish, and utilize the wonderful materials in the packet to help spread the Gospel of Life.  Thank you – for all you do for life!
