E-ALERT
". . . a great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world.  Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.  Jesus himself has shown us by his own example that prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil (cf. Mt 4:1-11)."

A Call to Prayer: 9-Day Novenas of Masses, Holy Hours, Rosaries, Chaplets of Divine Mercy, Novena Prayers & Fasting for the Elections and the Protection of Human Life

In these final days before the elections, we join with brothers and sisters across the country in a time of intense prayer and pleading to God for the direction of our nation and for the protection of human life, especially the nearly 4,000 unborn children who are killed by legalized abortion each day.

While continuing the 9-Week Novena for the Elections and praying at the 40 Days for Life-Dallas vigil sites, we invite you to join us in these additional special prayer initiatives:

1.  Novena of Masses:  The Mass is the highest form of prayer.  Please pray a novena of daily Masses from October 27-November 4.  For parish Mass schedules, go to  http://www.cathdal.org/parishFinder.asp.  In addition to morning Masses, please note that St. Rita, Dallas, and Mary Immaculate, Farmers Branch, have a daily 5:30 p.m. Mass and St. Joseph, Richardson, has a daily 6:00 p.m. Mass.  Daily Mass is available at 12 noon at the Cathedral, Dallas, and St. Ann, Coppell; 12:05 p.m. at the Church of the Incarnation at UD, Irving; and 12:10 p.m. at Holy Trinity, Dallas.  Additional evening Masses are available in English and Spanish around the diocese.  Check the above link for schedules.

2.  Novena of Holy Hours:  Please pray an hour a day before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament from October 27-November 4.  St. Monica Parish, 9933 Midway Road at Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, has Eucharistic Adoration available M-F from 9 a.m. - midnight, and Sundays from 6 p.m. - midnight in the chapel; St. Ann Parish, 180 Samuel Blvd in Coppell, has 24-hour perpetual adoration in their Adoration chapel.  Of course, you may always pray before Our Lord Truly Present in the tabernacle at your parish.

3.  Novena of Rosaries to Our Lady of Victory:  In this Respect Life Month and the month of Our Lady of the Rosary, let us remember the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, whose victory against all odds was attributed to the millions of rosaries prayed to Our Lady.  Please pray at least one rosary (five decades) each day from October 27-November 4.  (see Father Corapi's message below)

4.  Novena to Our Lady of America:  The traveling Missionary Image of Our Lady of America is here in Dallas from October 26-November 3, and will be at the various Dallas abortion centers and the Carmelite Monastery (see schedule below).  Please join in praying the Novena to Our Lady of America from October 26-November 3.  (see Novena prayer below)

5.  Novena of Divine Mercy Chaplets:  Please pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy each day from October 27-November 4, substituting the words "our country" at this place in the prayer: "For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on our country and on the whole world."  Our friends in New Jersey are praying 3 Divine Mercy Chaplets each day during these 9 days (total of 27 Chaplets, or 3 Novenas), and invite us to join them if we can.

Perhaps you could pray the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Novena Prayers before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament during a Holy Hour you might be able to make each day, following Mass.

Whatever extra prayers you are able to offer during this critical time in our nation's history, we beg our God to hear from heaven each and every earnest and humble prayer we offer, and we beg His mercy upon us.  (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Additional opportunities:
* All-Night Adoration at Carmelite Monastery on Friday, October 31 (Missionary Image of Our Lady of America will be there from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.)

Rosary Novena to Our Lady of Victory from Father John Corapi: Monday, October 27 - Tuesday, November 4

"No other issue, not all other issues taken together, can constitute a proportionate reason for voting for candidates that intend to preserve and defend this holocaust of innocent human life that is abortion.

"I strongly urge every one of you to make a Novena and pray the Rosary to Our Lady of Victory between October 27th and Election Day, November 4th. Pray that God's will be done and the most innocent and utterly vulnerable of our brothers and sisters will be protected from this barbaric and grossly sinful blight on society that is abortion."

- Father John Corapi
