13     TEAM SUSIE Memorial Scholarship Fund BBQ

Susan Marie Calvey-Martin was described by Shawn Carney as the most effective sidewalk counselor in the history of the Brazos Valley Coalition For Life. Though she left this life at the young age of 22 her mark is that today there are 6 children living who were about to lose their lives to an abortionist.

Susan wanted a scholarship fund created to benefit the students of Texas A & M who participated in the organization Aggies For Life of which she was President. She also wanted this fund to spread out to other Texas cities and other college campuses. The scholarship is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization.

You can visit TEAMSUSIE.com and read the comments of the first five students who have received a scholarship.

On Sept. 13, 2008 TEAM SUSIE is hosting its first ever TEAM SUSIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND BBQ in San Antonio. It's said that Texans have two home towns: the first is where they live and the other is San Antonio. So we hope you can join us.

We are hoping this event will be a kick start to the 40 Days For Life campaign. Additionally, we need to reach out to you in Dallas because someday we want to be awarding scholarships to college students in your area. David Bereit knows of our efforts and supports us in them and we hope you will too.

You'll have a blast and beat the heat, but best of all, the funds raised at this event will help the CPLC ministries save lives, help families, heal mothers and fathers, and educate young and old in the truths of life and love. Last year's successful event raised over $10,000 for this worthy cause!

Here's all you need to do:
    1. Gather a team of six family members, friends, a combination of family and friends, co-workers, or folks who volunteer together in the parish or for pro-life.
    2. Go online
here to register with your $50 lane fee.
    3. Come up with a fun team name, maybe matching T-shirts, team banner or something to show your team spirit. (Prizes will be awarded in this
    category!)
    4. Email friends and family, knock on neighbors' doors, talk to people after Mass, call up anyone you know to collect $200 in pledges to bring the day of the event. Click
here for great ideas to get sponsors.
    5. Bowl with us on September 21!

Don't have a team of your own? No problem. Register as an individual here, bring $40 in pledges to the tournament, and we will set you up with other bowlers to make a team of six.

This bowl-a-thon is for all ages, styles and skill level. You choose your division: Bumper, Regular or Competitive, and prizes will be awarded in each category. All bowling styles and techniques are welcome - we may even teach you a few new moves!

What if you really don't bowl but still want to be a part of this fun event? You can:
    - volunteer - if you have time to "spare," we can always use the extra hands
    - donate the cost of a lane for the day
    - donate the registration fee for a team to be able to join us for the day
    - donate an item to the silent auction
    - shop the auction!

We already have collected many items ranging in values from $10 to $1,000, including: baby baskets, a movie basket, photo frames, party packages, weekend hotel stays and gift certificates!

Everything you need to know about Strike for Life is right here. But if you have specific questions, please call Elizabeth Muzyka, our volunteer event chairman, at 972-424-8785. Thank you so much for joining us and for your donations. And thank you for all you do for life!
