Prayer

A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world.

– Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, 100

Prayer is the foundation of all that we do in defense of human life. Therefore, prayer — our communion with Almighty God — infuses every aspect of our efforts: every project, every event, every individual.

The CPLC Prayer Ministry provides many opportunities for individual and communal prayer on behalf of life: the annual Roe v. Wade Memorial Mass and Rosary Procession, the National Night of Prayer for Life, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Prayer Vigil outside all of the Dallas abortion centers, pro-life Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, Eucharistic Adoration and pro-life Holy Hours in the parishes, and special Masses, novenas, and rosaries throughout the year. An annual retreat helps renew spirits for our work in saving and affirming life.

The ministry also invites "Prayer Warriors" and fasting companions to unite their sacrifices with those of a particular sidewalk counselor. Religious contemplatives, nursing home residents, and all parishioners in the diocese are asked to pray daily and offer sacrifices for all involved in the abortion tragedy, and specifically for its end.

"All of our thoughts, words, and deeds can be offered up as prayers. As our bishops remind us: 'Only with prayer — prayer that storms the heavens for justice and mercy, prayer that cleanses our hearts and our souls — will the culture of death that surrounds us today be replaced with a culture of life.' "

– Fr. Edward M. Robinson, O.P.
Diocesan Pro-Life Coordinator appointed by Bishop Tschoepe in 1974
