From the Desk of Karen Garnett November 7, 2012 Dear Friend of Life, Greetings in Christ! This morning I come to you with a singular message: We are still here. For 20 years, the Catholic Pro-Life Committee has been devoted to ending abortion and restoring respect for all human life. Our commitment remains as strong today as it was yesterday. We hope you will continue to stand with us, fighting the good fight to protect the life and dignity of every human person from conception until natural death. As we move forward, it is worth remembering that the fight to end the tragedy of abortion is inherently local, and here locally, we have seen great strides in the protection of women and children. While similar efforts to achieve national protections have largely eluded us, we will not be discouraged. With your help and support, we will continue to communicate the truth and beauty of God's precious gift of life on our sidewalks, in our schools, in our churches, and in our homes. I hope you will join us! In closing, I'd like to leave you with an inspirational message from Bishop Paul J. Swain of Sioux Falls:
Amen! Today's Mass readings similarly remind us that we are to continue to "shine like lights in the world, as we hold on to the word of life," and that our labors are not in vain. Let us press on, with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Blessings in Christ, for Life, Karen Garnett ![]() |
