On April 6th at The Bishop's 20th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner, we will recognize one special hero of the pro-life movement, who will receive The 2013 Father Edward Robinson, O.P., Pro-Life Person of the Year Award.

We are thrilled to announce that The 2013 Father Edward Robinson, O.P., Pro-Life Person of the Year is Beth Riley, M.T.S., theology teacher and dynamic faculty sponsor of the John Paul II High School Pro-Life Club!  Beth has helped inspire over half the students at John Paul II to participate in the 360-strong student pro-life club – which may be the largest high school pro-life club in the country!

Beth and her students have participated in multiple pro-life efforts, including hosting the annual Hike for Life at JPII, praying rosaries for life and marching in the Dallas March for Life, attending chastity rallies, and volunteering at The Bishop’s Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner.  In addition, Beth is the faculty sponsor of Students Against Destructive Decisions and the Honduran Mission, an opportunity for students to put their pro-life values into action by caring for the less fortunate.  Beth also invites pro-life speakers into her classroom to share the Gospel of Life with her students each year.

Fellow friends of life, including one of her students, shared their admiration of Mrs. Riley with us:

"Beth Riley’s enthusiasm for pro-life is contagious!"

"Beth’s pro-life activism is one of the main reasons I chose to send my son to JPII."

"Mrs. Riley exemplifies her faith in belief in life being sacred from the 'womb to the tomb' as she always says. She stresses the fact of Pro-Life not only meaning anti-abortion, but also Pro-Life in the aspects of all life being sacred, throughout all the stages of life."

"Beth Riley embodies Blessed John Paul II's 'Evangelium Vitae' in all that she does. I think Fr. Robinson, also an exemplary high school educator dedicated to teaching and training young people on life issues, is smiling broadly from heaven, most happy to see Beth Riley receiving this award bearing his name."

Beth has been married for 22 years to Greg Riley, and is the mother of two wonderful young men, Donovan, 17, and Taylor, 16.
