Great news worth sharing! By the grace of God and the awesome dedication of Convert-to-Life Ministry Director Joanne Underwood and her team of sidewalk counselors and prayer partners, we saw the largest number of babies saved in the history of the CPLC in 2011! The final stats are nothing short of miraculous: in 2011, 841 women turned away from the five Dallas abortion centers (298 more than 2010), plus an additional 743 “hopeful turnaways” (324 more than 2010)! Praise be to God!
And I'm sure you've seen the amazing breaking news that Susan G. Komen has finally seen the light and is defunding Planned Parenthood! Plus it has reversed its decision in support of embryonic stem cell research! To learn more about this incredible development, visit prolifedallas.org/abclink. And please send a note of thanks to to let Komen know we support these changes! (We will continue to encourage them to acknowledge the contraceptive and abortion links to breast cancer.)
In demonstration of this tidal wave of pro-life momentum over the last year, the Dallas faithful turned out in the thousands for the January 21st Roe Memorial Events with Bishop Farrell. The church and the streets were packed with even more pro-lifers than last year!! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the photos and videos of these great events at prolifedallas.org/roe. Thanks to all of you for your prayers, support and devotion to building a Culture of Life, without which none of this would be possible!
With the Roe Memorial Events behind us, we are turning our attention to education opportunities in February and March. Please join us for the following:
If your parish is interested in a Faithful Citizenship presentation tailored to your church community, let us know. The CPLC is offering bilingual evening or weekend presentations upon request. Email or call 972-267-LIFE(5433) if you are interested.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we are excited to bring you details on The Bishop’s 19th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner on April 14th! This year, the dinner will be held at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas with plenty of parking and advance check-in by email. Our featured guest will be John Schneider, popular TV personality (of Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville fame), recording artist, and star of two new pro-life films, Doonby and October Baby, opening in theaters this spring. The dinner will also include a wine pull, jewelry “grab bags,” exhibits and a spectacular raffle for a chance to win a $15,000 AmEx gift card (plus more great prizes!). Reservations for the dinner are now open at www.prolifedallas.org/dinner. Please spread the word and book your parish tables soon!
And don’t forget the next Quarterly Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Meeting is next Saturday, February 11th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Thomas Aquinas, 6306 Kenwood Ave., Dallas, TX 75214. If you cannot make it, please send a representative from your parish as there will be lots of information on important upcoming events, including distribution of Bishop’s Dinner parish promotional materials (posters and yard signs).
I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the 11th.
Thanks for all you do for Life,
Jim Walker Director of Parish Coordination 972-270-3019
P.S. If you have not already responded to the survey sent last week about the Roe Memorial Events, please do so here – we need your input! Also, please be sure to pick up the Roe Memorial yard signs from your parish to return at the Feb. 11 meeting or to the CPLC office. Thank you.
