Greetings and blessings! As mentioned in my last letter to you, effective July 1, 2012, David Carr, who joined the CPLC as Associate Director of Parish Coordination in May, will become the new Director of Parish Coordination, and I will be continuing as Special Projects Director of the Baby Bank Campaign and CPLC Golf Classic. David is bilingual, which is a real plus, as more parishes are adding Spanish-speaking Co-Coordinators. He is a District Deputy and has been active in the Knights of Columbus for 25 years, already familiar with the many pro-life activities throughout the diocese. I know that David is looking forward to getting to know all of you and to be of service however he can.
If you have not already, you will have an opportunity to meet David at a special event honoring all of you on August 18. In addition to our Quarterly Meeting on that day, Bishop Mark Seitz will be celebrating a special Mass for you! The Mass is at 9 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church (5231 Meadowcreek, Dallas), followed by the meeting at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. You won’t want to miss this first-ever blessing and commissioning of Parish Pro-Life Coordinators!
As July is upon us, we will all no doubt remember and celebrate Ameria's independence on July 4th. With this date also comes a special invitation to remember the importance of religious liberty to our nation’s founding as we close out the Fortnight for Freedom. I hope all of you will be able to show your support of this historic campaign for “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty” at the special Fortnight event sponsored by the Diocesetomorrow, Saturday,June 30 at St. Rita, beginning with the 5:30 p.m. Mass and followed by a free dinner program in Sweeney Hall, as well as any events held at your own parishes. For more details about the Fortnight events and resources, visit dallascatholicadvocacy.org.
In addition to the Fortnight, please also mark your calendars for the following events in July:
