Greetings and blessings to all. With another successful 40 Days for Life-Dallas campaign having come and gone, I wanted to again say thank you for all your efforts and share some amazing news. Dallas is once again home to the largest prayer vigil in the world, with more than 4,000 pray-ers coming out to the vigil site for the 3rd year in a row, and we have seen great fruits from those prayers. During the campaign, a record 36 women chose life outside the Southwestern late-term abortion center where the vigil took place – including 2 sets of twins! – plus another 101 lives were spared at the other 4 abortion centers in Dallas for a total of 137 precious lives protected from death! Praise God!! With peaceful, prayerful events such as these, people’s minds and hearts are being converted away from abortion and toward a new Culture of Life.
As we enter the month of December we focus on how special this time of the year is to all of us Christians. For it is in December that we celebrate the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8), Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec. 12), the Holy Family (Dec. 30), the Holy Innocents (Dec. 28), and most importantly, Our Savior’s birth. On December 8-9, we will have a special opportunity to remember the precious gift of life Christ promises us at the National Night of Prayer for Life, a worldwide vigil from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with an “Hour of Unity” at 12 a.m. CST. A list of participating parishes may be found here. If your parish is participating but is not listed, please let me know so we can be sure to add your parish event to the calendar.
In addition to this event, please mark your calendars for:
Finally, as we look forward to 2013, we are beginning to plan the momentous 40th Memorial Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the court decision leading to the loss of 53 million unborn children. A schedule of events on January 19, 2013, including the Roe Memorial Rosary and Mass and the Dallas March for Life and Rally, may be found here. We will be distributing Bishop Farrell's letter of invitation, plus posters and yards signs to each parish in the coming weeks. Please ensure that your parish includes the bulletin announcement available here, shares Bishop Farrell's letter, and displays the posters and signs in the weeks preceding January 19. If you, or someone you know, is interested in being on the Roe Memorial team, please email . More information coming soon at prolifedallas.org/roe.
I pray that all of you receive Christ’s peace and joy during this month and all of next year. Let us all pray that others live according to the example of the Holy Family for it is the foundation of all our society. Let us ask the Christ Child to continue to strengthen us in our resolve to protect all innocent children, and especially the most vulnerable in the womb.
May God’s blessings be upon you and your family during Advent as we prepare our hearts for celebration of the coming of the Lord this Christmas.
Thanks for all you do for Life and God bless,
David Carr Director of Parish Coordination 469-230-9664
