Our Freedom Under “Full Frontal Attack”
By Karen Garnett, CPLC Executive Director

Never in my lifetime have I seen, in the words of Cardinal Mahoney, such a “full frontal attack” on our religious freedom.

Rave Reviews for New Pro-Life Curriculum
By Patty Sherrod, CPLC Director of Ministries

Several years ago a partnership began between the CPLC and St. Francis of Assisi Anglican community, grounded in three things: the Gospel of Jesus Christ, fidelity to the teaching authority of the Church, and the sanctity and value of every human life.  So when St. Francis Parish Pro-Life Coordinator Kevin McNevins gave the CPLC a copy of a new adult curriculum entitled Project Life, we were encouraged by its potential for Catholic parishioners.  It is well thought-out, deeply grounded in Scripture and Church teaching, and organized in a format appealing to the average person.  Continue

Thank You for Giving So “That They Might Have Life”!
Thank you for making The Bishop’s 19th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner, “That They Might Have Life,” a spectacular evening!  Bishop Kevin Farrell welcomed nearly 2,000 attendees to our new venue, the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. We paid tribute to our beloved Father Edward Robinson, O.P., the “Patriarch of the Pro-Life Movement in Dallas,” who died on March 29, 2012, at the age of 97, and recognized the recipient of the award named in his honor, The 2012 Father Edward Robinson, O.P., Pro-Life Person of the Year, Angela Heiter. During this time, an abortion-minded woman chose life for her baby!  Continue

Fortnight for Freedom

In April, the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a document, “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” outlining the bishops’ concerns over threats to religious freedom . . .The U.S. Bishops also called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom, from June 21-July 4.  The Diocese of Dallas is joining dioceses nationwide in events highlighting the importance of defending our religious freedom.  Continue
