|House of Horrors Brought to Justice
By Karen Garnett, CPLC Executive Director
In one of the most historic judicial moments since Roe v. Wade itself, abortionist Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of the first degree murder of three babies who survived failed abortion attempts. He was also found guilty of manslaughter in connection with a drug overdose of a patient, over 200 counts of violating Pennsylvania’s informed consent law and conspiracy to commit abortion beyond the state’s 24-week limit. After the verdict was read, Gosnell’s attorney requested each juror be asked if they agreed with the verdicts, to which each responded in a strong voice: “Agree!" Continue
|International Impact of the CPLC
By Aurora Tinajero, Director of CPLC Spanish Ministry
I am thrilled to share my incredible journey to Spain. I, along with CPLC Gabriel Angel Coordinator Ingrid Meyer, were invited by the Archdiocese of Madrid to the “Week of Life” program, held April 6-13, where we presented the Catholic Pro-Life Committee’s model for pro-life ministry and our role in the Diocese of Dallas. While in Spain, we traveled to the Dioceses of Valladolid, Albacete, and Alcala to give presentations . . . regarding the CPLC’s mission and model, including the role of Project Gabriel within our ministry. |The Bishop's 20th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner – A Night to Remember!|
|Thank you for your part in the success of The Bishop’s 20th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner, “Exodus 20:13: Life is Sacred,” a spectacular evening from start to finish! The dinner celebrated the CPLC’s 20th year of pro-life ministry in the Diocese of Dallas and declared our desire for an exodus from the desert of abortion during the 40th anniversary year of Roe v. Wade. Our Bishop Kevin J. Farrell welcomed nearly 2,000 dinner guests to the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, where we recognized the 2013 Father Edward Robinson, O.P., Pro-Life Person of the Year, JPII’s Beth Riley. Inspiring program included pro-life champion Dr. Alveda King, niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
On April 9, a sea of blue descended on the state capitol, as Catholics from throughout Texas arrived in blue shirts to promote, life, justice, and religious liberty. Approximately 75 delegates from Dallas led by Bishop Mark Seitz joined 12 bishops and over 1000 fellow advocates. As Bishop Farrell explains, “The Church teaches that all Catholics should participate as ‘faithful citizens’ in the public square.” This obligation includes not only voting for our leaders but also dialoguing with those elected about the polices they support. |Exodus 2013: Thou Shalt Not Kill
The 2013 Roe Memorial Events on January 19 were a remarkable day for Life, offering prayers for the 53 million lives lost to the tragedy of abortion and marching and rallying for an “exodus” of abortion from our community. The theme of this year’s events was “Exodus 20:13: Thou Shalt Not Kill.” As Bishop Farrell explained, it “is a fitting reminder from Almighty God in the year 2013, the 40th year of the legalized killing of the unborn, that life is sacred and must be protected and that the killing must end.” Continue
