Nelly

May 28, 2019

She’s twenty-one, pregnant, and hasn’t finished high school. She and her boyfriend came in separate cars to the abortion center for her first visit. When the girl stopped her car to speak to the counselor, the boyfriend patiently waited behind her in the driveway.

The young woman began to cry as the counselor spoke to her. “I have so many things going on. I don’t know what to do. What those people were telling me… I don’t think that’s right.”

“If someone wants you to do something that’s going to hurt you, that’s not love. What does your boyfriend say?”

“He says it’s my choice, but it doesn’t seem right.” The counselor showed the girl literature and talked about the services the pregnancy help center offered.

“I’ll call them, I promise. I just need to think right now.”

“Of course, sweetheart. And know that we’ll be praying for you. What’s your name?”

“Nelly.”

“See that lady just down the street praying? Her name is Nelly, too. And she’s praying for you already! We care about you and we love you. That’s why we’re here.”

This past December, we lost a dear pro-life friend whose name was also Nelly. As we spiritually adopt this baby in danger of abortion, we know that our Nelly here and above are both praying for this young woman to find peace, choose life, and find happiness.
