Patty Sherrod has served as the Director of Ministries for the Catholic Pro-Life Committee since December 2000.  In 1995, she attended a seminar at Christ the King Catholic Church on a mentoring program for pregnant women in crisis, an outreach now known in Dallas as Project Gabriel.  As a volunteer, she developed a training and resource manual for Gabriel Angel volunteers and has assisted over 50 parishes to erect 972-BABY-DUE signs promoting the ministry.  As CPLC Ministries Director, Patty oversees the nine life-saving ministries of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee:  Prayer, Convert-to-Life / Sidewalk Counseling, Project Gabriel, Abortion AfterCare-Healing / The Rachel Ministries, Parish Coordination, Speakers Bureau, Youth For Life, Spanish Ministry, and Civic Action.  Each ministry has its own director, who in turn manages a small staff and/or a large number of volunteers.  Patty also assists the CPLC in its yearly fundraising efforts, including the Bishop’s Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner and the Christ Child Luncheon and Christmas Gift Market.

Before joining the CPLC as a Director, Patty was the Language Arts department chair and principal in several Catholic schools in Dallas, including St. Mark the Evangelist, St. Anthony, and Holy Trinity.  She taught Advanced Composition and World Literature at Richland College from 1986 to 2009, and also taught at the University of Dallas’ School of Management from 1995 through 2001.  She received outstanding faculty recognition from both these institutions.

Patty received her BA in English and Secondary Education from Saint Louis University and her MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas.  She is a member of University Professors for Life.  She serves as a lector and lector trainer at her parish, St. Joseph, Richardson, assists on the ACTS retreat team, and has been the Parish Pro-Life Coordinator since 1996.  Patty recently completed a four-year study at the Catholic Biblical Institute of the University of Dallas.  She and her husband, Dan, have four grown children and three grandchildren.
