International Foster Care Orientation (IFC)

Thursday, October 20, 2011 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location(s): Catholic Charities Office, 249 Thornhill Drive, Fort Worth, Tx 76115 - Peavy Training Room

Catholic Charities provides foster care for refugee, asylee, and victim of trafficking minors from places like East Africa (for example the Congo, Somalia, and Ethiopia), Burma, and Central America (for example El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala) who do not have adult caregivers. The program partners with foster parents to provide a safe, nurturing, culturally sensitive environment that equips and empowers them to reach their full potential. Services are designed to meet the needs of each unaccompanied refugee minor and may include tutoring, mentoring, independent living skills training, cultural activities, legal assistance, mental health services, intensive case management, and education/ESL classes. The International Foster Care program works with Unaccompanied Refugee Minors and youth referred by the Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Service shelters. These youth are usually 15-17 years old and are also in very vulnerable situations. As you can imagine, their stories of survival can be painful to hear, but they are full of faith and determination.

Please come to an orientation to learn about how you can provide loving home and future filled with hope for a refugee minor.  RSVP to Alyssa Elledge at (817) 289-3889 or aelledge@ccdofw.org.
