Movie Screening: Where There Is Darkness

Sunday, December 2, 2018 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Location(s): The Texas Theatre 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. Dallas, TX, 75208

The movie Where There Is Darkness tells the true story of Fr. Rene Robert of the diocese of St. Augustine, Florida who was murdered in April 2016. During the trial of his murderer, it was found among his papers that he had signed a Declaration of Life over 20 years earlier. In this Declaration of Life he stated that if he were every murdered, he did not want his murderer to receive the death penalty. Fr. Rene's bishop asked the court to take his wishes into consideration.  Watch trailer here.

Tickets may be purchased online at stellamarfilms/collections/tickets ($13.00 + $1.50 fee per ticket), at Holy Spirit Catholic Church during office hours: $13.00 (cash or check only) or at the theater on Dec. 2 only: $15.00 (cash or check only) while supplies last.

This movie which was only completed this month has already won the awards of Best Documentary and Best Director from the LA Crime and Horror Film Festival. Where There Is Darkness is not yet rated, but the filmmakers expect a rating of R due to the graphic nature of some of the reenactments so film sponsors request that no children attend and that mature teens be accompanied by their parents. This is a movie with broad appeal as the awards from a secular film festival indicate. The sisters of Fr. Rene's murderer consider the movie to be a beautiful story of mercy and forgiveness, and another host in California described the film as "powerful," "intense," "well done," and "containing a good message." At this time the movie can only be seen at hosted screenings.
